Art In The Park 2019

Makati, being a city that is synonymous to arts & culture, is at it again this weekend for another art event in Salcedo Village! Just after a few days after 10 Days Of Art and Art Fair Philippines 2019–two monumental and world-class festivals of all things art–comes an outdoor art event in the city’s very own Jaime Velasquez Park.

Yes, Makatizens, Art In The Park 2019 is happening this Sunday, March 17, from 10AM to 10PM–and you can’t miss it!

You heard that right! The one-day art fair will feature works from 56 exhibitors representing galleries, art collectives, independent art spaces, and student groups. That’s quite a collection, folks!

What’s more, visitors have a chance to score coveted artworks for less as prices are capped at P50,000.

Did you know? Last year, an unsigned painting by National Artist Ben “BenCab” Cabrera was sold at Art in the Park as part of a social experiment! (Yes, just one of the many astounding happenings during events of this kind in Makati!)

Be there this Sunday and enjoy special exhibits featuring works of artists handpicked by organizers. The featured artists this year are Zean Cabangis, Yeo Kaa, and Leeroy New.

If some music is also something you’re looking forward to, then you can tap your toes to the sounds of the jazz trio Soulful Mood and the Bleu Rascals, which represented the Philippines in the 28th International Blues Challenge in the United States.

To those who want to have a snack or two while shopping for artwork, there will be food tents offering all sorts of cuisines and street food favourites!

Here’s a handy map for you, Makatizens, of all the exhibits and booths on Sunday:

Since 2006, Art in the Park has gathered together a diverse group of galleries, art schools, independent art spaces, and collectives for the country’s most significant affordable art fair.

A fund-raising event, Art in the Park donates a portion of its total sales to the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in support of its projects for the National Museum of the Philippines and its network.

Set in the relaxed and casual atmosphere of Jaime Velasquez Park in the Philippines’ financial capital of Makati City, Art in the Park keeps to its mission of making the visual arts accessible to everyone.
What else are you you waiting for, Makatizen? Be there. Once again, let’s make art happen this Sunday!
